Convert common still-image formats in the browser
Use Image Format Converter when you need new PNG, JPEG or WebP copies without sending the active image contents to a conversion service. Supported source formats include PNG, JPEG, WebP, BMP and AVIF when your browser can decode them.
Format conversion, not source replacement
TaskThimble decodes each supported still image and creates a new copy in the selected format. The original files are not overwritten or renamed, and the output keeps the source image dimensions.
Transparency matters
PNG and WebP can preserve transparent pixels. JPEG cannot represent transparency, so transparent areas are placed on white in JPEG output. Choose PNG or WebP when transparency needs to survive the conversion.
Use the format the next system actually needs
PNG is useful when lossless output or transparency matters. JPEG is widely compatible for photographic images without transparency. WebP can reduce file size while supporting transparency, but the receiving system still needs to accept WebP. Format conversion alone does not prove that an image meets a marketplace, CMS or client delivery rule.
