Compare an earlier image with a newer revision
Use Image Version Compare when two files appear to represent versions of the same asset and you need a more explicit view of what changed. The tool compares dimensions first and, when alignment is reasonable, measures normalized pixel difference.
What the difference score means
When aspect ratios are sufficiently compatible, TaskThimble scales both images to a shared comparison raster and measures pixel-level difference. A larger difference means more pixels changed after normalization; it is a revision signal, not a quality score.
Dimensions can be a meaningful change on their own
A change in width, height or aspect ratio may indicate a crop, export setting or layout revision even before pixel comparison is considered. The tool keeps those measurable facts visible separately.
When no score is shown
If aspect ratios differ enough to make alignment misleading, TaskThimble reports the dimension change and leaves the judgement visual instead of generating a confident-looking but unreliable score.
Use the difference map as evidence, not as approval
When available, the downloadable difference map helps locate changed regions. It does not decide which version is correct, approved or authoritative; that still depends on the source and purpose of the asset.
